all of my dreams (mireya)
MIREYA’s debut song. It’s a pop ballad that shows off her vocal range, emotional singing, and lyricist Marco Samonte’s nuanced take on a heartbreak song.
behind the writing
MIREYA: All of my Dreams is the first of the 13 songs we had written during that 10-days of songwriting sessions. And 95% of the lyrics and melodies you will hear from this is as it was in the very first version, only a few words and phrasings changed.
My brother and I both knew all the details of the story behind this song so we were instantly in sync about how it should go from the beginning. It’s dark, it’s a cry for help, it’s saying sorry for all those affected, it’s trying to control something that can’t be controlled, and it’s utter disbelief of all that transpired.
The title is misleading because it’s not about reaching one’s aspirations but rather about dreams that are now in the rubbles. But the character in this song has not lost all hope, even if she couldn’t see it and believe in it in the moment, she’s still hoping something will help her find a way out of it. And that flicker of hope in the midst of complete despair is the feeling that we hope you will get out of this song.
behind the production
MIREYA: The final product of the song All of my Dreams was beyond what we initially imagined it to be, thanks to the amazing producers Tandr.Duo of Stuttgart (Henri Schweizer and Nico Zeitz).
At first we only thought of it as a purely piano ballad, but as soon as Nico started playing the pads and synths and Henri toyed with some effects, we knew right away to take this new direction.
It was my first time in a studio and my first time recording my singing, so I had to learn many things — fast. We had only booked the studio for the day and the vocal recording didn’t come until the last three hours. (That’s why some of it might sound rushed or unpolished). I struggled in particular with the timing and pitch, and getting used to singing without hearing my own voice properly.
But the whole experience was made lighter and more fun through the gentle guidance of Henri and Nico. It was like watching two people do magic, the way we saw them work. And it felt like being in the presence of geniuses and super-beings (dare we say the future Max Martin and Shellback duo??).
By the end of that studio session, it was a common understanding between me and my brother — it was one of the best experiences of our lives, and we hope you could feel that through the final product too.
PS: No AI was used in any part of this song. All lyrics, melodies, vocals, and instrumentals are human-created.
PPS: Listen carefully to the amazing Live-recorded piano performance of Henri throughout the song, and Nico’s moving bass performance in the middle section of this song.
