The Narrative

I.

8 billion people on this earth

How’d we even move and think as one?

Why’d we all work so fucking hard

For something so imaginary as cash?

The concepts of nation, true love, and religion

Are they real or are they just superstitions?

Pre-chorus.

Who writes the story of our lives?

Who’s writing our history?

Chorus.

Don’t lose the plot, that’s what they say

Look at the facts, see it from every way

Distance yourself, from the situation

Learn from our million years of narrations

Every person is the hero of their own history (and we’re all clashing)

In the end it’s about who controls the narrative.

II.

You see, everything must be nuanced

Nothing’s simple as black and white

Especially when there are emotions

We can’t all just be basing on facts.

Should we go for what’s most universal?

Or do we lift up those who are marginalized?

(Repeat Pre-chorus, Chorus)

Bridge.

Now the fate of all human beings’ at stake

As we learn to live with minds we create

What do we keep, and where do we stop?

At what hard line do we call it off?

Do we let our progress slip from our hands

To something that thinks in ways we don't understand?

Are we ready to loosen control of the story

And hand it away to the unknown unfolding?

(Repeat chorus)
